BovINEAwareness of BovINE is increasingly spreading and the project is gaining recognition internationally. Recently, partners were invited to participate to one of the three virtual webinars: Livestock and Precision Farming, within the frame: “Enhancing Canada Europe Collaboration: Sustainable Agriculture”. The webinar aimed to strengthen ties between Canada and Europe, joining forces and technology to provide practical and accurate solutions for the farmers and business people of today and of the future. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about Canadian and European bovine systems, as well as, challenges and solutions in the area of precision farming and sustainability.
The Canadian perspective was presented by the CEO Karen Churchill from Ag-West Bio and Canadian solutions by the CEO Virgil Lowe from Telus Agriculture and Eric Behlke (Feedlot Health Management Services); the European perspective and solutions were presented by Maeve Henchion from Teagasc (coordination and management of BovINE) and Virginia Resconi from Unizar (leader of the thematic area Production Efficiency and Meat Quality). Finally, Fawn Jackson (Canadian Cattlemens Association) moderated the round table discussion that followed.
The participation of BovINE in this event was thanks to exchanges between Andrés Schlageter, from the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza (Spain), Richard Lynch (project manager from BovINE) and Maximo Hurtado, trade commissioner from the Embassy of Canada to Spain. The event attracted 320 registrations, including BovINE partners, which shows a great interest in the topic. Hopefully, this webinar will generate new opportunities for collaboration between Canada and Europe. La red europea BovINE se está difundiendo cada vez más, alcanzando reconocimiento a nivel internacional. Recientemente, se invitó a los socios a participar en uno de los tres seminarios virtuales: Ganadería de Precisión, dentro del marco “Mejora de la colaboración entre Canadá y Europa: Agricultura Sostenible”. El webinario tenía como objetivo estrechar los lazos entre Canadá y Europa, uniendo fuerzas y tecnología para ofrecer soluciones prácticas y precisas a los agricultores y empresarios de hoy y del futuro. Los participantes tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer mejor los sistemas bovinos canadienses y europeos, así como los retos y soluciones en el ámbito de la ganadería de precisión y la sostenibilidad.
La perspectiva canadiense fue presentada por la directora general (CEO) Karen Churchill de Ag-West Bio y las soluciones canadienses por el director general (CEO) Virgil Lowe de Telus Agriculture y Eric Behlke (Feedlot Health Management Services); las perspectivas y soluciones europeas fueron presentadas por Maeve Henchion de Teagasc (coordinación y gestión de BovINE) y Virginia Resconi de Unizar (líder del área temática Eficiencia de la producción y calidad de la carne). Por último, Fawn Jackson (Canadian Cattlemens Association) moderó la mesa redonda.
La participación de BovINE en este evento fue gracias a los intercambios entre Andrés Schlageter, del Instituto Agronómico Mediterráneo de Zaragoza (España), Richard Lynch (gestor del proyecto BovINE) y Máximo Hurtado, comisionado comercial de la Embajada de Canadá en España. El evento atrajo 320 inscripciones, incluyendo a socios de BovINE, lo que demuestra un gran interés en el tema. Es de esperar que este seminario web genere nuevas oportunidades de colaboración entre Canadá y Europa.
