BovINESpanish partners from the BoviNE project were present at the “42o Congresso Paranaense dos Estudantes de Zootecnia” held in Maringá, Brazil on 14th September 2022 . The event is organized annually by the Zootechnics (Animal Science) academics from the State University of Maringá (Universidade Estadual de Maringá – UEM). The event attracts animal science academics from the Paraná region, who are interested in knowing more about various issues related to animal production. This year, the theme of the Congress was: “The farm that feeds the world”, and had around 80 attendees.
Jakeline V. Romero, the co-lead for the BovINE thematic area focusing on Production Efficiency and Meat Quality (PEMQ), had the opportunity to present the BovINE project and several solutions including Innovations and Good Practices related to the PEMQ, selected in the 3 years of the project. Innovations such as Virtual Fencing, the TTouch method and Vitamin A on beef marbling; and good practices such as Muscle ultrasonography from Portugal, and the use of measuring tape for timing the first calving from Germany, were presented.
The event addressed issues including administration and management in feedlots, pasture management and precision animal supplementation. Scientific papers by academics from the State University of Maringá were also presented during the congress.
O projeto BoviNE esteve presente no 42º Congresso Paranaense dos Estudantes de Zootecnia no dia 14 de Setembro de 2022 em Maringá, Brasil. O congresso é organizado anualmente pelos acadêmicos do curso de Zootecnia da Universidade Estadual de Maringá (UEM), e dirigido principalmente a acadêmicos da região do Paraná, que estão interessados em saber mais sobre vários assuntos relacionados à produção animal. Este ano o tema do Congresso foi: “A fazenda que alimenta o mundo”, e contou com cerca de 80 participantes.
Jakeline V. Romero, co-líder para a área temática: Eficiência da Produção e Qualidade da Carne (EPQC), teve a oportunidade de apresentar o projeto BovINE e várias soluções como Inovações e Boas Práticas relacionadas a EPQC, selecionadas nos 3 anos do projeto. Foram apresentadas inovações como: Cercas Virtuais, Método TTouch e Vitamina A no marmoreio da carne bovina; e boas práticas como: Ultrassonografia muscular (de Portugal), e o uso de fita métrica para cronometrar o primeiro parto (da Alemanha).
O evento também abordou questões como: Gestão e manejo em confinamento, manejo de pastagens e suplementação animal de precisão. Houve também um momento para a apresentação de trabalhos científicos pelos acadêmicos da Universidade Estadual de Maringá.
